Aicha Abnuaomar is a young Sahrawi award-winning photographer born in the Sahrawi refugee camps. With a background in financial management, she began exploring photography in 2019 out of curiosity. By 2021, she started dedicating more time to her passion, honing her practice through the everyday life around her. Aicha loves to explore the desert landscape and scenery and also experiments with architectural photography by examining the Sahrawi tent’s structure, designs, and techniques. She enjoys capturing the details of objects and materials rooted in Sahrawi culture and identity. Often, her work develops through the documentation of everyday life and the people around her, with her photographs reflecting a strong generational link to her family, neighbors, and the surrounding community.
