I am Brahim Shagaf, born in Dakhla camp. When I returned from my studies in Algeria, I became deeply interested in studying Sahrawi culture, and I learned a lot from working in the field. Nowadays, I work mostly in cinema and audiovisual projects, making films and videos. I’m a film director and an educator at the Sahrawi School of Cinema. I use films to research and analyze the many social and cultural issues in our society. I love it when I am [invisibly] present in a situation and things happen without me being noticed. I love to let things unfold naturally. The stills from my film Taufa tell the story of the arrival of the first Sahrawi women to the refugee camps in the Hamada Desert in Algeria.
