Hassan Al-Mulla (b. 1951, Doha) is a pioneering qatari visual artist whose work has profoundly shaped Qatar’s modern art movement. A graduate of the University of Baghdad with a degree in fine arts, specializing in oil painting, his surrealist style reflects themes of childhood, qatari heritage, and the natural environment. A founding member and former president of the qatari fine arts society (1980), Al-Mulla has been instrumental in developing qatar’s cultural institutions. He has held solo exhibitions in India, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia, and participated in major shows such as lived forward: art and culture in Doha 1960–2020 and abstraction: subverting reality at fire station, Doha. His works are in the collections of qatar museums and Mathaf. Beyond art, he has taught at qatar university and championed arts education.
