Born in 1980, Adel Dauood is a leading Syrian artist whose work merges abstraction, realism, expressionism, and surrealism through vibrant colors. His small paper works feature fantastical creatures—multi-eyed, sharp-toothed beings with tangled limbs—both eerie and captivating. Yet, Dauood feels these creations demand more: “They need space and color,” he says, leading him to larger, dynamic oil and acrylic canvases. Beyond individual forms, his art explores human nature and collective experiences. Each brushstroke weaves emotions, memories, and dreams into fragmented imagery-faces, limbs, and everyday objects like slippers and bowls-blurring the line between reality and imagination.
