Born in 1949 in Kuwait, Mahmood Ashkanani is an artist whose work evolved from Impressionism and Realism to Symbolism and Abstract forms. He has held five exhibitions in Kuwait and three in Dubai and Tunisia, collaborated internationally, and contributed to numerous artistic events across Europe and the Middle East. Ashkanani is a member of the Free Atelier and the National Council for Culture, Arts, and Letters. He has received many awards both locally and internationally. In 2011, he received the Saudi Palme d’Or Award at the GCC Visual Art Symposium. He has restored over 120 artworks. His pieces are exhibited in prestigious locations including the National Council for Culture, Arts, and Letters, Bayan Palace, Alseef Palace, the Modern Art Museum in Kuwait, the National Museum in Budapest, Hungary, and the National Council of Almuñécar, Spain.
