Salman Al-Malek (b. 1958, Doha) is a qatari visual artist and renowned cartoonist. He earned his bachelor’s degree in education and arts from Helwan University in 1982. His work has been exhibited internationally, including at the Institut du Monde Arabe in Paris (2007–2008), the Bangladesh Biennale (2009), the Cairo International Biennale (2009), and the Istanbul Museum of Art (2015). Among his notable public works are Al Jassassiya rock art installed in (2022), a colourful sculpture inspired by Qatar’s ancient carvings, and toub toub ya bahar on Doha’s corniche, inspired by traditional songs sung for sailors. His works are held in major collections, including lacma (USA), Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art, the National Museum of Qatar, and leading Qatari Banks.
