Born in 1963 in Sidi Bel Abbès, Abdelkader Belkhorissat belongs to the lineage of artists who transform memory into color. A graduate of the Fine Arts School of Algiers, he taught for many years in Oran before returning to his hometown to lead the Fine Arts Annex. His work, situated between figuration and abstraction, explores the relationship between the visible and the imaginary. Portraits, landscapes, silhouettes, or fragments of nature blend under his spatula in a vibrant dialogue of forms and light. His paintings, nourished by travels, instinct, and inner poetry, tell the story of Algeria in its sensitive plurality. Present on the national and international art scene since 1983, Belkhorissat represents a singular pictorial voice, both rooted and universal.
