Said Chender, a painter born in 1963 in Oran, has established himself as a prominent figure in the contemporary Algerian art scene. Since the late 1980s, he has explored an aesthetic that oscillates between memory and modernity, where trace and light become a visual language. His work has been the subject of several solo exhibitions, including Icare (2003, CCF Oran), Réminiscence (2010, Mostaganem), and Fenêtres (2018, Oran). He has participated in numerous events in Algeria and abroad — Lyon, Paris, Istanbul, Cannes — demonstrating a constant dialogue between rootedness and openness. His contributions to various workshops and biennales highlight his commitment to artistic transmission and exchange.
