About

Djahida Houadef, born in 1963 in N’gaous, is an Algerian visual artist whose work explores light, memory, and identity. A graduate of the Fine Arts School of Algiers with honors in painting, she has had a career marked by passion and rigor. As a teacher and workshop facilitator at the National Museum of Fine Arts, she has passed on her love of gesture and color. Her vibrant and sincere work is inspired by nature, traditions, and the simple emotions of daily life, but it is also in a constant search for collective memory, history, and identity. Each painting is a breath, a leap toward beauty and harmony. Exhibited in Algeria and internationally, her work celebrates the Algerian soul and opens a universal dialogue between cultures and sensibilities.
