About

Faiza Djeffal-Tahraoui’s work explores a meditative form of abstraction inspired by the landscapes of the Oran coastline. Through painting, weaving, printmaking, and collage, she develops a refined visual language where geometric shapes, altered forms, and spontaneous colour create contemplative spaces. Each piece becomes a window onto fleeting emotions or buried memories, echoing the Sufi concept of Khalwa, inner retreat. A visual arts teacher for over twenty years, she has exhibited at the Palais de la Culture, the Museum of Modern Art of Oran (MAMO), the Ahmed Zabana National Museum in Algiers, the Contemporary Art Biennale at the Médiathèque of Oran, and the Abu Dhabi Art Fair. Her work has also been presented in France, Spain, and the Balearic Islands, and is held in private collections in Algeria and abroad.
