About

Merine Hadj Abderrahmane, known as “La Main du Peuple” (The Hand of the People), is an Algerian visual artist born in 1991 in Sidi Bel Abbès. Active since 2003, he has developed a committed approach where art becomes a tool for social and existential reflection. As the founder of clubs and artistic events, he promotes creation as a means of dialogue and transformation. In 2016, he created La Main du Peuple, symbolizing a hand that mirrors the social realities of Algeria, exploring the tensions between shadow and light in everyday life. His work combines performance, installation, design, and collaborative art, while extending to a brand inspired by his universe. His journey includes exhibitions in Algeria, Tunisia, Congo, and Senegal, including the 2024 Dakar Biennale and the Civ’Oeil Gallery in Oran in 2025.
