Algaddafi Al Fakhri is a Libyan artist born in Tripoli in 1963. A member of the Artists’ Union, he co-founded the Tripoli Painters’ Club in 1983 and later the Al-Wasiti Gallery at the National Library in 1999. He has contributed to the establishment of several art spaces and written articles about Libyan and Arab visual artists, as well as about the uniqueness of the Libyan art scene in local newspapers and magazines. Interested in scenography, Al Fakhri has worked on theatrical productions and received the Best Playwright Award for Al-Waswas at the Arita Experimental Theatre Festival in Al-Bayda (2005). His artworks have appeared in numerous literary publications. Al Fakhri won third prize at the Malta International Biennale (2003) and first prize at the City Festival in Hammamet, Tunisia (2008).
