Tawfiq Bashir Al-Aweib is a Libyan visual artist born in 1970 in Misrata. He holds a diploma in Theatrical Scenography from Beijing and has developed his artistic abilities in drawing. His first venture was with Sanabel magazine, which focused on children and was published by Dar Al-Jamaheeriya in the early 1990s. Al-Aweib turned his attention to design, advertising, and publicity, developing his skills in working with images and specialized software. Al-Aweib’s influence by Spanish artist Pablo Picasso is evident in his characters, but he remains preoccupied with Libyan identity. The influence is global, but the content is Libyan. Tawfiq Al-Aweib is known for his active participation in group art exhibitions in Misrata and beyond, as well as international exhibitions in Tunisia, Malta, Egypt, and China.
