About
František Mertl, known as Franta, is a renowned artist who donated a significant part of his works to Třebíč, his hometown. Located 150 km from Prague in the southeast of the Czech Republic, the city is a UNESCO World Heritage site. The town of Třebíč renovated the National House to host the collection, which was inaugurated in December 2014. Entirely dedicated to the artist, the gallery presents works tracing his life and career, from the 1960s to the early 21st century. The collection of paintings is complemented by engravings and sculptures. The exhibition’s installation and all related documentation were designed and arranged by the artist himself.
