About

The Landon Gallery in Biskra is one of the oldest artistic spaces in Algeria. It was founded in 1890 by Count Albert de Langeville Landon as a retreat for artists and writers. Among its most notable visitors were the composer Béla Bartók, the writer Oscar Wilde, the novelist André Gide, and the painter Henri Matisse. In 1978, the municipality of Biskra revived the space as an artists’ studio, and in 2015, it was transformed into an art gallery bearing its founder’s name. Today, it regularly hosts contemporary art exhibitions and remains open to innovative and committed artistic practices.
